Happy Easter Box & Coaster

Happy Easter! I made this box (about 5 inches square) from a Dreaming Tree cut file. It went together easily.
The four flaps on this flat top box open to reveal a marble tile coaster I stamped and sponged with Ranger Distress Archival Inks. I had some black shredded paper from Sephora that I saved and it was perfect as cushioning.

I added a tag with a vinyl sentiment cut from a Suzanne Cannon calligraphy file from the Silhouette Design Store.
Thanks for stopping by today. I hope your Easter was enjoyable.

My Kind of Guy

I am sharing here masculine cards I made using a Dreaming Tree project cut file. This is a fun shutter card that makes a great Father's Day or birthday card for the man in your life.

My first one was for my husband for Father's Day. I used Tim Holtz Paper Stash papers, as well as some other scraps, and an old photo of my husband and daughter for the insert. The photo is revealed as the action of opening the gatefold card opens the heart-shaped aperture. This provides that WOW factor. The bow tie band slides off.

My second card was for a card exchange and so I needed it to be a bit more generic. I used Tim Holtz Paper Stash papers again and instead of a photo inside, I did some rubber stamping. For the eyeglasses, I used silver Silhouette brand printable foil instead of the pearl paper used in the first card, and a textured glossy metallic paper for the bowler hat.

I think the papers really compliment the retro style of the Waltzingmouse rubber stamps used.
I used a rainbow stamp pad to get a gradated effect to the words.
For this second card, I made the bow tie with a magnetic closure so instead of sliding the band off, it comes undone easily by pulling apart. Here's what that looks like.

The recipient gave this card to her husband for his birthday, which was such an honour for me. She said she did not want to give it away so by giving it to him, she still gets to have it around. So I am entering this card in the Male Room Challenge which is for a male birthday card as that challenge is celebrating its fifth year.

Thanks for visiting today. If you have an electronic cutting machine I highly recommend Dreaming Tree files. They have useful videos showing how to put together the cards or 3D paper items. In the case of this file, there are even helpful divots built into the design to help align the various pieces. The hardest part for me was just deciding on which coordinating papers to use!

Free Gift Card Holder File

I did not have time to make greeting cards for my staff this year, but I wanted to present them with gift cards in a novel way. Dreaming Tree has a free file to create a clever pop up gift card presentation. I made an assortment.

In the upper left is the prototype but I was rushed for time so fussing about with ribbon was a challenge. I discovered I could affix these pins, that I picked up at Winners, to close the pouches and skipped the ribbon on the rest.

I forgot to take a photo of the inside which is elegant and clever, so pop over to the Dreaming Tree site to see that and if you have an electronic cutting machine, be sure to snag this freebie!

And here is a card I made this year that made me smile. It is very simple, for my great niece who is only 18 months old. The penguins are mounted on Action Wobbles so they shimmy and make me laugh. I hope they make her laugh, too!

Dreaming Tree Christmas Card

I have not been feeling well this season so the Christmas Card production came to a bit of a halt and I feel bad some folks won't be getting a card this year.

However, I did find time to make one very special card to put in my parcel to my Mom. This is a Paperscape Box Card SVG file from Dreaming Tree that folds flat for mailing, but also works as a luminary with LED lights inserted in the base. Dreaming Tree files are a dream to work with, very well designed, and Leo provides video instructions on the website that are very clear to follow.

Here is a bit of a side view. There are four layers including the background.

A Quietfire Design stamp in Brilliance ink provided the greeting. I added crystals later.

These were supposed to be cardinals but I wanted a blue and white card, so Mom gets blue jays instead.

Finished card with gemstones.

Here is the card with the LED lights inserted, next to my Mom's Christmas tree. She is enjoying it.

50th Cascading Card

Doves, hearts and ribbons - oh my! I was asked to create a 50th Wedding Anniversary card for a friend. I wanted it to be really special, and so I turned to the Dreaming Tree to find a design with some WOW factor to cut on my Silhouette Cameo. Here is the Doves Cascading Card:

Instead of the provided front embellishment, I used JustRite "Ever After" stamps for the frame and sentiment. I heat-embossed in gold.

The panels were embossed in my Cuttlebug with a Poppy damask embossing folder from Anna Griffin. I highlighted the panels with Delicata Golden Glitz ink. I used rhinestones to embellish, and the highest portion features hearts in gold mirror cardstock and doves and a bow. The most amazing thing about this card, though, is it folds flat for mailing.

If you have a cutting machine and have not visited the Dreaming Tree site yet, please do. Their customer service is fantastic, and their cutting files are very well designed. I like that the access to the files you purchase never expires! Thanks for visiting today.
