Foil Quill Hanukkah Card

Once a year I make a single Hanukkah card. This year I chose a file from the Silhouette Studio store (#236482) for the star. I cut it out of a sponged background I had created with various Distress Oxide Inks.

In Sure Cuts a Lot 5 Pro I imported the SVG file and traced the outside of the star shape and slightly inset the trace to get an aperture on my dark blue card front so the white background would show off the swirls.
Then I designed the words to go around the star using a single line font (Sisters Sketch Font) and "heat printed" them with my foil quill pen and We R Memory Keepers silver foil. Inside I used the same font to say "Enjoy the season."

It was a fun challnge for me to develop this square card  incorporating the foil quill. It's not perfect, but I guess that's what keeps us humble and ensures that handcrafted look!

Happy Hanukkah

Here it is once again; well, actually, this year Hanukkah began on December 2. Even though I put a reminder in my calendar, I still did not get this card finished by then. Luckily for me, there are eight days to celebrate the Festival of Lights!

I cut out the greeting (kerribradford.com) and free-hand designed the candles. The Star of David was a free SVG file courtesy of the internet. I coloured the flames with Copic markers. The blue is a beautiful silk-finish cardstock. I cut everything out of the yellow and the blue, then popped the bits back into the yellow base, so it's all level and clever looking. :-)

I am in the throes of Christmas card making, so it was a challenge to stop and pivot a bit here, but I'm happy with the way this turned out.

Happy Hanukkah Card

Hanukkah began on the evening of December 24 this year. I decided to make my boss a Hanukkah card. He is always so gracious each year, wishing all the staff happy holidays and Merry Christmas and I have felt bad for not stepping out of my comfort zone to make a card for him. So I set out on a Google quest for inspiration and education. Who knew the number of candles on a menorah can vary?

I finally found a free SVG file (https://cutfiles.net/444/menorah-2-cut-file/) that I could cut on my Silhouette Cameo, and with selective masking, I was able to glitter up a burnished velvet menorah. I used yellow and gold glitters to create the flames. It is so pretty in real like, sparkling against the white cardstock. It seems blue and gold are traditional colours, but I think the menorah design is modern, clean and simple. Then again, what do I know? Happy Hanukkah!
