CASology: BIG

Hi, there. Today I am playing in the CASology blog challenge, which is the prompt BIG. This A2 sized Clean And Simple welcome card for a new staff member fits the bill.

I made the hello sentiment on my Silhouette Cameo and popped it up with foam tape over a piece of homemade decorative paper that I have been hoarding for years. It has beautiful oranges and teals and is made by rubbing oil pastels into textured cardstock and burnishing until it is smooth and looks like an old oil painting. I felt bad to have covered most of it up - but it does shine through the sentiment. I also added a strip of copper foil washi tape. I am a VERY late adopter of this embellishment but it is growing on me.

Here's a close up of the sentiment background..

Welcome Card

This week I have a new staff member joining my team and as is my tradition, I have made a card.  Unlike the orientation manual I put together for her, this card came together quickly, using scraps of metal in my Ten Seconds Studio scrap box.
I used a Cuttlebug embossing folder for the background panel and the flower is cut with the T!m Holtz Tattered Floral dies and embossed with the Swiss Dots embossing folder . A soft white velvet flower brad provided a different texture, and I added a purple Swarovski crystal gem to the center.
The sentiment is a Waltzingmouse Stamp and I used my new Spellbinders Fancy Framed Tags One set to create the tag frame. The leaves and ferns were punched out of metal, as well. The thin white mat and burgundy card are the only paper used in this almost all metal card.

I am so excited to have this gal joining our department so that I can go back to doing one job instead of two!

Hello

Who hears Adele right now? :-)

When I made my Mother's Day card, I also made a second card using the reverse combo of a paler background and more vibrant center panel. To soften the panel so the "Hello" would stand out, I laid a piece of pink vellum over top and stamped the Hello there.

This is an A2 sized card and I stamped the white envelope to match.

Blueprints for Masculine Cards

One of the things I like to do is create a welcome card when I hire new staff. As you can see from the date above, I did this card back in March, but am just getting around to sharing it now. This card was for a guy - and so Tim Holtz's blueprint stamps worked well. I used a Waltzingmouse Stamps date stamp for under the clear embellishment.

I thought the corresponding "Admit One" ticket stamp would work well inside, so here's a peek at the inside, too.

Here is a variation on the theme:

I seem to gravitate to these blueprint stamps for male cards. Here is a birthday card where I paired the images with a new sentiment stamp from Waltzingmouse Stamps:

Thanks for peeking in today!
