Vintage Red Muff

Here is a card I made just by taking an assortment of items and playing around until I got a pleasing composition. It's red and turquoise again. I like the contrast of the black and white girl image (Oxford Impressions) and that red muff.

I put the glitter paper on red cardstock and then started layering ribbon, felt, some vellum and a die cut star doily. Once I knew how it was going to work, I stitched the horizontal elements together and then mounted Miss Red Muff overtop with foam tape.

The snowflakes are a few Waltzingmouse Stamps die cuts, a plastic button and a felt snowflake freebie from an old magazine.  I like the contrast of the soft felt and the other sturdier shapes. A red heart and red thread help tie it all together.

Thanks for stopping by today!

Vintage Ornament

I made quite a few of these cards this year, using various papers. The bow is popped up on foam tape to give it a bit of oomph, but still affordable to mail regular letter rate.

Two more sleeps until Santa comes!

Noel Birdie

Turquoise and red - love it! I am going to be sad when these papers are all used up.  The red bird and the snowflake are felt pieces I received with a magazine a year or so ago. I gave Mr. Bird a Delicata Gold crown and stamped some music behind him.

The seam binding spool is a Pink Persimmon stamp. The rayon ribbon is Martha Stewart. Tree and berries are Memory Box dies. Noel is a Waltzingmouse stamp.

Winter Girl Part Two

Deja vu! Here is yesterday's card in a traditional red and green colour scheme.

This time I heated the Liquid Applique and glitter once they had dried overnight, and it puffed up the fur trim nicely, but I think I lost a bit of the sparkle in the process. Coloured with Copics again, and this time I used a star circle die from Spellbinders for the frame.

Thanks for visiting today. Another vintage Christmas card coming your way tomorrow!

Winter Girl Part One

Welcome back to my blog! I am posting one of the retro Christmas cards I made this year with a Lisa M. Pace Antiquated Collection design from the now-defunct Pink Persimmon stamp company. I stamped with Memento ink and coloured with Copic markers.

I had fun adding some embellishments to this sweetie. Stick pins in upper left are from Making Memories. I tucked Angelina fibers around the scalloped Spellbinders circle. The fur trim on her hat is Liquid Applique that I sprinkled with Distress dry glitter while the foam was still wet. I did not heat emboss it as it seemed just right once it dried. I dotted the centers of the flowers on her hat with Stickles. A crystal button was the right vintage touch to bridge the main image to the sentiment.

I am sharing this on the Jingle Belles Rock challenge link up. Come back tomorrow to see this card in a completely different colour scheme!

Paper-Garden Holiday Card Challenge

Recently I was introduced to a Canadian paper supplier online site called Paper-Garden. They have gorgeous cardstocks and a wide range of supplies, with an emphasis on weddings, but a lot for every day cardmaking, too.  They are running a 2015 Holiday Card Challenge and I am entering this vintage card (click on photo to enlarge).

Thanks for peeking in. You can vote for your favourite card and there is still time to play, too! There are prizes! See the Link in my sidebar at top right.

Knitting Warm Winter Wishes

I'm back after a long hiatus due to a busy schedule and a very tired computer that does not want to cooperate. This is a Christmas card for my friend Mary, who knits up a storm, and even more so now that she is retired.

The House Mouse design is by Stampendous and the sentiment is by Waltzingmouse Stamps.

I thought the red and green scheme works for a Christmas card, but it could be used year round by swapping out the colours. I stamped with Memento and coloured with Copic markers, then overstamped with Versafine Black and clear embossed.

I am entering this in the 52 Card Throwdown Challenge, which is to pick any of the previous challenges from 2015. I chose the August Colour Challenge:

And the Weekly Christmas Card Challenges Week #1.
